The Wellsburg-Brilliant Bridge project has officially broken ground, which means the Ohio Valley is one step closer to more, new jobs.
In fact, Federal Highway Administrator Edward Steven announced, on Tuesday, he believes there’s potential for hundreds of thousands of jobs to flood this area once the bridge is completed.
How is that possible?
Steven mentioned how these new jobs won’t just be for construction.
Many permanent jobs are expected to follow such as new restaurants, gas stations and more.
“There’s a lot of economic depression in the state of West Virginia, but this area is growing. It’s thriving and the bridge will help. Also, with all of the plants in this area and the region, we’re looking forward to people coming in from Ohio and everywhere to be apart of this,” Steven said.
Officials said constructing the new bridge will also be a safer option for the area.
The bridge will allow heavy truck traffic to cross in the Wellsburg-Brilliant area, instead of having to cross over existing, older bridges.
