New Details: New Martinsville burglary suspect in custody

NEW MARTINSVILLE, WV.a (WTRF) - New Martinsville Police have arrested a suspect they say could be responsible for a series of commercial burglaries in the area. 

 

Brian Wade, 55, New Martinsville, was take into custody around 5:00a.m. Sunday morning. 

 

Police Chief, Tim Cecil said he was patrolling the area when he spotted a vehicle matching the description of Wade's near Nationwide Insurance in New Martinsville. 

 

When Cecil approached the building, he said he saw Wade rummaging through the cash register inside. 

 

Wade allegedly ran off through the back of the building, leading police on a foot chase for several blocks until he was apprehended and taken into police custody. 

 

 

The suspect was charged with burglary but police say those charges will more than likely stack up once they account for the other places he has allegedly burglarized. 

 

 

Police say Wade has an MO for breaking into tire shops, insurance companies, anywhere that could assumingly have a petty cash drawer.

 

 

Wade is suspected of burglary in multiple areas across the Ohio Valley including St. Mary's, Wetzel County and possibly Monroe County.
