The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of an unwelcome call.

According to Sheriff Fred Abdalla, the call comes in from the Sheriff’s Office, asking about sexual predators and concealed weapon permits.

The victim is then instructed to press zero if they’re innocent before a young girl’s voice comes on the other line.

Sheriff Abdalla is warning residents if you receive this call, hang up.

“If anybody’s getting calls from (740) 283-8600 that’s not us calling. We currently have a fundraiser going on, but whoever’s doing this, it has nothing to do with a fundraiser. It’s someone out to scam you,” Abdalla said.

If you receive one of these calls, you can report it to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Their number is (740) 283-8600.
