A major traffic project is underway on Interstate 70 in Ohio County.
A section of the major highway, near the West Virginia-Pennsylvania state line, will be down to one lane in each direction. The construction is for some long wall mining under the interstate.
Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard encourages commuters give themselves some extra time as the speed limit will drop to 45 mph.
“Be cautious, drive through the area very slowly,” continued Sheriff Howard. “It’s normally a 70 mph zone right through there. So you’re going to want to go very very slow just for the protection of the motorists and the workers.”
Ohio County Sheriff’s deputities will be on the scene in case there are any issues.
The project is expected to last through the end of May.
