We currently live in a very divisive political time. But there are two lawmakers from our area who put their party differences aside often in order to do what’s best for the people they represent.
We are talking about United States Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman of Ohio. Both men say they may not always agree politically, but will work to find common ground on matters that mean the most to Ohioans.
“We put our differences aside and figure out how to help Ohio and that’s my job,” said Portman. “I think that is the job of every Senator is to figure out what is best for the state.”
Senator Brown adds that both he and his colleague in the Senate always try to put the Buckeye State first. “When there is an Ohio problem we got to bat and work on it,” Brown said. “We hope to serve as a model for some colleagues in other states to do the same thing because the state obviously benefits from that.”
Senator Brown also says that when they hear about issues or problems, they call each other right away and talk about how to work on them.
