As candidates seek party nominations county party organizations seek to firm up support for the November general election.
Jefferson County Republicans had their best chance to meet and greet Ohio statewide candidates at their Lincoln Day Dinner in downtown Steubenville.
U.S. Senate candidate Mike Gibbons gave the keynote address and many judicial candidates came to plead their case with local voters.
Jefferson County’s GOP chairman has high hopes heading into the election season.
Jefferson Co. Republican Exec. Committee, Chairman, Matt Parise said, “When you deal with jobs. When you deal the economy. When you deal with those meat-and-potato issues, we’re putting people back to work every day. Here locally, and across the state. Those are the issues that are going the voters out, and have our success not only in Jefferson County, but across the state.”
Parise also said for the first time in his life Jefferson County has more registered Republican voters than Democrat.
