BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WNWO/NBC) - Twin 6-year-old boys from Ohio are being called heroes after jumping into action to save a small girl from drowning.
Peyton and Bryant Switzer from Bowling Green were on vacation with their family in Orlando in June when they saved a 3-year-old girl.
The girl had gotten away from her mother and jumped into the deep end of a hotel pool. Peyton and Bryant were playing nearby, and put their swim lessons to good use.
The boys immediately knew something was wrong when they saw the girl struggling, so they sprung into action.
Peyton jumped into the pool and put his arm around the little girl. He brought her to his brother Bryant, who helped her get out of the pool at the ladder.
"And she jumped in, Peyton jumped in and then put his arm around her and then he bringed her to the ladder and I helped her out," Bryant said.
"So proud of them," their mother Amy Walters said. "We always want them to help others when they can, but the fact that they saved a little girls life is amazing."
The twins have been taking swimming lessons and learning about pool safety this summer.
"I did what I was supposed to do and that's what I did," Peyton said.
Peyton and Bryant were recognize for their actions by the Ohio House of Representatives, who presented them with certificates for their heroism.
