Ohio Headlines

A Bellaire man is in jail after leading police on a foot chase Thursday night.

According to police, two individuals came to the police department reporting they’d been assaulted. When officers arrived at the house the incident allegedly occurred, a man ran out the back.

Officers say they chased the man and caught him after he allegedly tried to get rid of 308 grams of marijuana and $10,960 in cash.

Arrested was Anthony Dwayne McGhee, 24, and he faces charges of aggravated drug trafficking, tampering with evidence, child endangerment, criminal damaging, failure to comply with the order of a police officer and assault.

“He admitted to the officers that he is a drug dealer. These people are stupid. They don’t care,” said Dick Flanagan, Bellaire’s police chief. “They give two hoots about anybody but themselves, and we’re to the point now that we’re kicking in your doors. We’re taking your property. We’re taking your stuff. Get out of town. Get out of the county. We don’t want you here.”

McGhee’s bond is set at $37,500.
