Three separate accidents on Interstate 70 eastbound in Belmont County kept troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol busy Friday evening.
It all happened right around 6:30 p.m. near the on-ramp from the Ohio Valley Mall, mile marker 218. The worst of the three crashes involved a Toyota sedan smashing into the guardrail, digging the passenger side front tire into the ground. The condition of that driver was not immediately known to our 7News crew on scene.
Two other minor accidents happened in the same area involving a Ford Pick-up and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Our 7News crew saw the driver of the Ford drive away from the scene, once released by officers.
Traffic was moving freely in the eastbound lane around 7 p.m.
Weather and speed may have both been factors in the crashes.
