Belmont County residents are flocking to Colerain to assess the damage caused at a cemetery over the weekend.
Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain was damaged by an unknown suspect in a vehicle, creating deep grooves and tire tracks, and even turning over some headstones.
“Whoever did this is demented,” one resident said at the cemetery with tears in their eyes.
At any given time, there were 10 cars full of people hoping to see the condition of their loved ones’ graves.
“Holly Memorial Gardens is committed to providing all families with a peaceful environment for visitation and remembrance. Our cemetery has been impacted by the large amount of rain in the area over the past several weeks,” said Holly Memorial Gardens in a statement. “We have developed a plan and are in the process of restoring the cemetery grounds as the weather allows. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused visitors to the park. We value the relationships we have with our client families and encourage anyone with concerns to contact us directly.
