The parents of Sheldon Baker, 3, who wandered alone for nearly five hours in woods Friday, were arrested and charged.
Sylvia and Shane Baker are facing drug and desertion charges.
This is the third time this week, Baker was unattended and wandered away while playing outside, each time he had to be located, said Livingston Parish Sheriff Ard.
Tanya Bankston, a volunteer who heard about it on Facebook, joined in the massive search.
People on horseback, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s office, and a helicopter were all called in to search for the boy.
After nearly five hours of searching, he was found about a mile away from his house in the woods, by Bankston.
“He was freezing cold and said he wanted to go home and he was hungry. He was scared as his feet were blood red swollen. He had on shorts and a T-shirt and no shoes on,” said Bankston.
Sheldon was airlifted hospital, but believed to be ok.
He is now in child protective services.
