In his short tenure with the Penguins, Juuso Riikola is not making quite the impact on the ice as some of his veteran teammates. For one young fan, though, the rookie defenseman made an impact that might last a lifetime.
According to Billy’s Mancave — a Pittsburgh sports fan page — Riikola was at a public autograph signing meeting with fans.
Among the crowd of fans was a mother by herself, without a child. When she made it through the line to meet Riikola, she explained that her son, who has autism, was unable to leave the car. She then asked if he would be willing to go meet her son in the car for an autograph.
In his 14 games so far with the Penguins, Riikola has just one point — but numbers don’t mean quite as much when you try to make a bigger difference off the ice than on!
