Legislators are heading back to Charleston Sunday to resume the 2018 legislative session Monday morning.
7News caught up with Delegate Mike Ferro of Marshall County while he was home for the weekend.
He says he felt the Governor’s State of State address contained some good ideas, but he did not think it was as strong as last year’s.
He says he supports the Governor’s ideas about supporting tourism and tackling the drug epidemic, but has some criticisms as well.
“They want to eliminate the inventory tax on manufacturers and equipment, and I’m not against that; however, Marshall County schools would lose about $1 million a year coming from that,” said Ferro.
Ferro says he thinks Governor’s Justice’s proposal of a 1%pay increase for public employees is an “embarrassment.”
He says some public employees would only see about a $7 gross increase per paycheck.
