CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia House of Delegates Finance Committee has passed an amendment to give teachers a five percent raise and all other public employees a three percent raise.

The amendment to House Bill 4145 will now go to the floor of the House of Delegates for a vote.

This is the same raise that West Virginia Governor Jim Justice proposed last night.

Hundreds of teachers were still at the Capitol today saying they want a permanent fix to PEIA.

Governor Justice  and  Dr. Steven Paine, the West Virginia Superintendent of Schools, said tomorrow teachers are expected to be back in school, but protestors have threatened to come back tomorrow and Friday.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
