Pope Francis held mass Vatican for Palm Sunday

This Sunday celebrated as Palm Sunday in the Christian faith, and Pope Francis held mass at the Vatican.

St. Peter’s Square was packed with tens of thousands attending the service.

The pope sprinkled holy water and blessed palm fronds and olive branches held by the faithful.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, which commemorates Jesus’s death by crucifixion.

The week ends with Easter Sunday, where Christians celebrate the belief that Jesus rose from the dead.
