Quarters are being raised to help an Ohio County teacher batteling colon cancer.
There is a quarter auction being held at Triadelphia Middle School from 11a.m. to 5:00p.m. Saturday to contribute towards the medical costs for Neta Fitzsimmons.
Fitzsimmons is an English as a Second Language teacher who helps non-english speaking students learn and speak the language.
She’s been diagnosed with stage-three colon cancer and has already undergone chemotherapy and will go through another round of chemo following an upcoming surgical procedure.
“We’re hoping for the best… she’s handling it better than you would expect. It’s a tough thing to go through but I think she’s doing her best…she has her days though,” said Freddy Fitzsimmons, Neta’s son.
Neta has built a county wide, loving support system as she teaches students from every school across Ohio County who don’t know the English language.
If you couldn’t make the auction, you can show support by purchasing a “For Neta” T-shirt.
