Sen. Sherrod Brown offers thoughts as shutdown prolongs

Reaction continues to pour in from lawmakers as this government shutdown continues.

Both side say they want to strengthen border security, but have very different ideas on how to get that done.

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown says folks in Washington need to use common sense when making the decision on how to proceed from here.

As we’ve said all along, we want to strengthen boarder security with technology and helicopters and personnel and all that,” said Sen. Brown, (D) Ohio. “It doesn’t strengthen border security to spend twenty to thirty billion dollars to build a wall that really wont work, [and] would take years to build and won’t work.”

The House continues to vote on separate bills to reopen closed government agencies, one-by-one.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he will not allow a vote on any bill that doesn’t have the support of President Trump.
