DOVER TOWNSHIP, OHIO (WTRF) - Two people are dead after an accident Saturday afternoon on I-77 in Dover Township in Tuscarawas County.
The New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said it happened just before 3:30 p.m. near milepost 82.
According to a press release, an SUV driven by Walter E. Banks of Canton, Ohio was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of I-77, when he struck a mini van head-on.
Banks was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the mini van, Mohammed Luft-Abdullah Al-Samet of Detroit, Michigan was transported to Union Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected.
Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
