West Virginia Senator Shelly Moore Capito took to the Senate floor to explain why she feels the Green New Deal is a bad deal for American families and businesses.
The backbone of the initiative is to convert the entire U.S. economy to renewable energy within 12 years.
When speaking wtih 7News, Senator Capito did not mince works on the initiative.
“I think the Green New deal is unworkable, unaccountable, unaffordable, impractical and unrealistic,” Senator Capito (R-West Virginia) said. “There is no way we are going to survive as an economic power and our people are going to keep working if we’re going to totally eliminate coal, natural gas and nuclear.”
When the Green New Deal was announced in February, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said it could be part of a larger solution, but no one has scoped out what the larger solution would entail
