The unofficial results are in after the City of Weirton’s primary elections on Tuesday.
On the ballot were the mayor’s race, and seven city council seats.
Among the races contested in the primaries were the 1st Ward and 5th Ward seats.
In the 1st Ward, Tim Connell and Jonathan Curenton will move on to run for that seat. Connell received 48-percent of the vote and Curenton received 39-percent.
For the 5th Ward, it will be George J. Charnie, Jr. and Flora M. Perrone who will be on the ballot in the general election. Charnie led the five primary candidates in that ward with more than 31-percent of the vote. Perrone received 27-percent.
As for the other wards, Ralph Cunningham and Mike Adams will be on the general election ballot for the 2nd Ward seat. Fred S. Marsh is the lone candidate in the 3rd Ward. George E. Ash, Sr. is running unopposed in the 4th Ward. Enzo Fracasso is running in the 6th Ward. The 7th Ward will have two candidates in the general election, Terry Weigel and Shanon Schuetzner.
In the race for mayor, incumbent Harold “Bubba” Miller was the top vote-getter with just over 78-percent of the votes. Challenger George Village received more than 21-percent of votes.
According to a press release from the City Clerk, canvassing will take place on April 8 at 10:00 a.m.
