A bi-partisian bill being discussed in the West Virginia Legislature is using a sugary drinks tax to help fund PEIA.

A bill co-sponsored by Delegate Joe Canestraro would add a tax on sugary drinks.

This tax would be two-cents per ounce.

After the tax raised $18 million, the rest of the money generated would go to PEIA.

Right now that bill is in the Health and Human Resources Committee.

If passed through there it would then go on to the finance committee.
