Dump truck goes over embankment in Tyler County; two dead

Two people are dead after a water bottle truck went over an embankment on Route 18 in Middlebourne late Sunday night. 

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of the accident at 9:01 p.m. When they arrived, they found two individuals inside the truck, which had gone through the guard rail and over the embankment. They were both extracted from the vehicle.

Curtis E. Etheredge of Harrisville, West Virginia was the driver, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eric V. Hardman of Parkersburg was transported by Middlebourne E.M.S. to Sistersville General Hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Route 18 was closed for about 4 hours as a result of the accident.

Responding to the call were deputies from the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, Middlebourne V.F.D., Sistersville V.F.D., Alma V.F.D., Shirley V.F.D. and Middlebourne E.M.S.
