First Energy Pleasants Power Station to remain open

West Virginia Headlines
Governor Jim Justice

The First Energy Pleasants Power Station in Belmont, West Virginia will remain open for the foreseeable future.

It was announced that the plant will remain open until at least June 1, 2022. The plant employs 160 people.

In a statement, Governor Jim Justice thanked President Trump, as well as several other people who he said worked to keep the plant open.

“While the plant will remain operational until June 2022, today’s announcement will provide a cushion for First Energy Solutions to stabilize the operation,” said Gov. Justice. “I am hopeful that over the next three and a half years a permanent fix for the long-term operation of the facility will be reached so that it remains a vital part of America’s power grid.”
