Gov. Jim Justice calls for special legislative session to discuss removal of impeached justice

West Virginia Headlines

Governor Jim Justice issued a proclamation Friday calling for a special legislative session to discuss the removal of impeached Supreme Court Justice Allen Loughry.

Loughry was convicted of over 10 counts, including fraud, witness tampering and lying to the FBI. The charges came from an investigation into excessive spending by the Supreme Court, including more than $300,000 worth of renovations made to Loughry’s office, as well as personal use of state vehicles and gas cards.

The special session is expected to take place on Tuesday, November 13 in Charleston.
