Man arrested for animal cruelty in Raleigh County

Deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest on Friday, December 15, 2017 in an animal cruelty case. 

The arrest was made after graphic video was brought to the attention of deputies.

The video shows a dog being drug by the neck. 

It was also picked up and thrown to the ground before it was hooked up to a chain. 

The person filming the video also said the dog had been kicked by the suspect.

Jerry Hommey, III, 25, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. 

He was also wanted on other warrants for various crimes. 

Hommey is being held in the Southern Regional Jail. 

The dog was taken by Raleigh County Animal Control for safe keeping.
