After two years in the making, Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack has launched legal sports betting in their facility and a new sports betting app.
To celebrate, local, state and casino officials came together for a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning.
Officials believe sports betting will help draw new people to the Northern Panhandle, spending time at not only the casino, but local bars and restaurants too.
Meanwhile, casino officials told 7News they’re excited to offer options people would normally find in bigger cities.
“This is a great moment. It’s so exciting not only for us, but for the state of West Virginia, our city and our county. Things that you can do in Vegas you can now do right here and that’s the exciting part. it’s a place where you can get everything you want when it comes to gaming,” said Kim Florence, Regional President & General Manager.
Officials said launching this and their new app “BetLucky” couldn’t have come at a better time with lots of big games this weekend.
