President Trump was in West Virginia Thursday to speak at the annual GOP Retreat.
His plane landed in Greenbrier County around noon.Shortly after he landed he joined GOP lawmakers at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
It was a busy day for members of Congress. They were been in and out of meetings, discussing a range of topics from infrastructure to immigration, and of course President Donald Trump’s address.
The president’s speech highlighted many of the same points as his State of the Union Address, calling for more unity and praising the Republican party for all the work they have down over the past year and calling it one of the greatest years for a political party. He also reiterated the need for new roads and immigration reform.
House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also addressed the media, echoing the President’s praise and the success of the tax reform bill.
Ryan added there is still more work to be done, “We need to close the skills gap in this country and we need to help people move from welfare to work so they can tap their true potential. We made great progress but there is more to do. And that is why we are excited to have the president here today to work on this shared agenda.”
