UPDATED 5/23/2018:  A little boy who fell into a creek in White Sulphur Springs over the weekend has passed away.

Six-year-old Liam Craft passed away overnight Wednesday. His mother posted on Facebook, “I want to thank everyone for everything throughout these last few days. Tonight Nathan and I held our baby boy in our arms as he went to heaven. He fought hard and for a long time. He’s now at peace.”

Liam’s 10-year-old brother, Gavin, tried to save his brother. Gavin was also hospitalized but later released.

A little boy is fighting for his life in a Charleston hospital after he fell into a creek on Saturday. Family members say the boy’s older brother jumped in to try and help, but both were swept away by heavy current.

Family members say the incident happened Saturday evening at Howard’s Creek in White Sulphur.  The boys mother, Malary Craft, said her 6-year-old son Liam fell into the creek and her 10-year-old son, Gavin, jumped in after his brother.

Liam and Gavin were both transported to CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston. Gavin was released from the hospital Sunday morning but Liam is still in critical condition.

“Thank you everyone for the outpouring of love and support you’ve shown. Please continue to keep my baby in your prayers. We need a miracle,” Malary said.
