UPDATE: Marshall County Sheriffs Chief Deputy Bill Helms said a man was hit by a car while first responders were fighting the flames Thursday afternoon.

Helms said the man was trying to help first responders and was directing traffic on the narrow lane where they were working.

The man was taken to Wheeling Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

ORIGINAL: 10 fire departments responded to a structure fire on Blairs Ridge on Thursday night along with two EMS agencies; the Sherif’fs Department and EMA.

According to EMA Director, Tom Hart, the house is a total loss.

When crews arrived, they experienced heavy fire. The Marshall County Tanker Task Force had to be activated. Hart said fire crews had limited space to work in the driveway of the home & the narrow one lane gravel road.

Hart said there was no one home at the time the fire broke out.

There’s no word from fire crews on the cause of the fire. There were no injuries.
