Thursday morning, 12 News received several messages from concerned parents of students at Lincoln High School, in Shinnston.

Their concerns rose from a book they said was written by a Lincoln High teacher.

Parents said the book contains first names of current students and descriptions of them, some of which reference sexual situations.  The story is set in Shinnston.  The last names of the students were changed and the name of the school was changed to Thomas Jefferson High.  The book, which was released last week, is available on Amazon.com.

12 News reached out to Harrison County School Superintendent Dr. Mark Manchin about the situation.  He said the book was also brought to his attention on Thursday morning and that they have taken the appropriate steps and the teacher has been suspended indefinitely.

Dr. Manchin said the actions taken to remove the teacher are to insure the health and safety of students and staff.

The teacher’s name has not been released.
