WVU student arrested after shooting spree threat

Authorities have arrested and charged a WVU student Thursday after threatened to carry out a shooting spree on campus.

21-year-old Cheickna Kagnassy has been charged with threats of terrorist acts.

University police were notified of his plans after receiving screenshot Facebook messages from a concerned citizen.

Police searched Kagnassy’s dorm room and no weapons were recovered, according to University officials.

However, authorities said there was “sufficient reason to take action,” despite not finding any weapons in his dorm room.

He is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail on 75-thousand dollars bond. If released, he is not allowed on WVU property.

Once police received permission to search Kagnassy’s phone, officers discovered the same messages sent to them.

Kagnassy is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $75,000 bond. If released, Kagnassy is not allowed on the University campus.
