Former Wheeling Jesuit University men’s basketball head coach Danny Sancomb has been hired as the men’s basketball head coach at Cal U.

As a head coach over 11 seasons at WJU, Sancomb boasts a 216-115 record (.653) while playing as members of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Mountain East Conference.

The WJU Cardinals were 2018 MEC Tournament champions after advancing to the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship the previous season.

On May 7th, Sancomb was dismissed as the men’s head basketball coach at WJU.

According to Sports Information Director Chris Myers, all scholarships will be honored.

Under Sancomb, WJU was ranked No. 1 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll in recent years, and featured in the 2017-2018 Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) National Player of the Year in Haywood Highsmith.

The team recorded at least 21 wins in each of the last four years under Sancomb with the program tallying 100 victories during that span, according to an official release.
