After revealing star quarterback Deshaun Watson was done for the season due to a fracture in his throwing shoulder, Browns general manager Andrew Berry vowed to add a third quarterback to the roster.
Hours after Berry watched his team win a third straight game and beat the Steelers 13-10 to improve to 7-3, he's ready to keep that promise.
Joe Flacco will be signing with the Browns practice squad on Monday, according to multiple reports. The former Ravens quarterback held a workout with the team on Friday but left Cleveland without a deal. Now, Flacco he's expected to put pen to paper ahead of Week 12.
Prior to Sunday's game, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com told 92.3 The Fan that the Browns were planning on adding Flacco at some point early in the upcoming week. The Browns are wasting no time getting that deal done.
After leading Cleveland to victory over the Steelers on Sunday, the expectation is that rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will continue to lead the offense with Flacco available in a backup role if needed. By joining the practice squad, the Browns will have the ability to promote Flacco up to three times before being required to sign him to the active roster.

Additionally, Flacco has played football since Week 18 of last season when he was with the Jets. In 2022, the 38-year-old played in five games for New York, including leading a miraculous 13-point comeback against the Browns in Week 2. He finished the season with 1,051 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Of course, Flacco is most remembered for his time with the Browns rival, Baltimore where he spent 11 years of his career and led the Ravens to a Super Bowl title in 2012. The last time Flacco played a full season was with Baltimore in 2017.
While Flacco's on field impact remains to be seen, the addition of a veteran leader in the Browns locker room could be beneficial, especially for Thompson-Robinson.
