(WTRF) — West Virginia is hoping to improve its community corrections program.

Four hundred thousand dollars is headed to the Marshall County Commission.

It’s part of a statewide grant program totaling around $5.5 million dollars. Officials say the intent is to provide sentencing alternatives for certain offenders in the justice system.

The funding will affect Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Tyler and Wetzel Counties in addition to Marshall.
