An early winter system has been developing overnight and is now over us. Many are starting off with some rain mixing with sleet at times plus freezing rain. Freezing rain is rain that falls as liquid then freezes upon impact of a surface, like a cold road or windshield.
Thanks to the issues we could see from this weather, a winter weather advisory is now in effect for our entire viewing area and will last until 7 p.m. today.
Expect bridges and overpasses to freeze first. Give yourself plenty of extra travel time and increase distance between your car and the next. Air and road temperatures will be hovering freezing all morning.
Ice accumulations will be minimal, but we could see 1/10″ ice this morning followed by rain, then a chance to see some minor snow accumulations this evening and tonight.
Stay tuned for updates.
