Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack closed as water levels continue to rise


Wheeling Island Hotel Casino and Racetrack is closed as they continue to prepare for the predicted flood Ohio River flood levels.

In a press release President & General Manager Kim Florence said the closure was to ensure the safety of all guests and employees. 

“As always, our first and foremost concern is the safety and well being of our guests and associates,” she said. “If the floodwaters continue to rise and reach the anticipated levels predicted by the National Weather Service our operational safety will be compromised. Contingent on our clean up efforts, We are projecting our main gaming floor, table games, hotel, restaurants and Greyhound racing to re-open within the next few days.”

Wheeling Island created a Guest and Employee Hotline, which will be updated regularly with information.
