WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) –Do you have any unwanted or expired prescription drugs that you would like to dispose of?

Martha Polinski of the Community Impact Coalition says her organization and the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office are holding a drug take-back event today at the Elm Grove Pharmacy.

October 29 is Drug Take Back Day, and various locations across the Ohio Valley were accepting all unused, unwanted, or expired medications for safe disposal.

Youth Service System and Substance Use Prevention Coalition volunteers, along with local law enforcement set up at Elm Grove Pharmacy and Kroger for this event that occurs every April and October.

Dropping off your medications keeps them out of the hands of youth, is environmentally friendly, and lowers substance abuse in Ohio County.

The event ended at 2 p.m. today, but pictured below are various drop box locations across the area that accept medications 24/7.
